I'm trying to figure out what distributor i have on my 1600 dp in my '64 beetle. Its a vaccum advance type and looks to be stock for the motor. The writing on the body of the distributor is as follows:
<---- JFU 4
0231170 034 (VW) 043 905 205
I want to order:
-points
-condensor (rectangle rubber going into dist)
-rotor
-cap
Looking at CIP1 and Mid America i can't seem to figure out what parts to ordrer. Any help would be great! Thanks! |

I never have these specs when I go to the parts store, and if I am shopping somewhere other than my fav parts guy (who speaks fluent VW), I inevitably get stupid questions from the kid behind the counter. Not only do they often not know VWs, they take one look at the blonde chick coming in to buy parts and assume I don't know what I'm talking about.
Seeing these parts numbers gave me a bright idea: while I pretty much know this all by heart but it almost never helps the kid behind the counter when I tell him verbally, I just copied and pasted this into a contact on my cell phone. I'll now always be prepared to hand it over when I just need somebody to pull the damn parts off the shelf and sell them to me. |

| Does anyone have any experience with the repop with electronic ignition? There is a guy on here who sells one all set up and ready to go. Just wondering if thats a better option. |

I just found an OEM vw of mexico made one at CIP1 so i just grabbed that. I'm fed up with messing around with what i've got. I hope this gets the car back to daily driver status!
