Spent last Saturday morning, replacing my old Swiss Cheese Heater Flappers, with some good used ones I was able to source.
I have had the side dump tubes on the Bus since we have owned it, and was waiting to source the correct Flappers. Now only thing I am lacking is the hose to join the two to discharge pipes. I've curious if anyone knows the diameter of the hose and a source for them.
Here are more photos, I said Swiss Cheese  The joys of a Midwest Bus. Relieved to have them back to solid.
Thanks- |

| I feel your pain here in Missouri my friend. I can see why you might not have any heat with those in there. I restored mine last year. While they didn't have as many holes they were bad. I dipped them in phosphoric acid to remove rust, then patched the holes with JB Weld. I put a thin ring of cork on both sides of the flapping mechanism inside to seal and some new springs. Now they work great. Mine do not have the dump tubes though. |

You do, you've got the pipes and must have a FLAPS nearby, take the pipe to your FLAPS and get the appropriately sized piece of aircleaner preheat hose.
Congratulations on fixing your heater  |

| If I remember right, they are an odd size that is just slightly too big to use a standard size tube as is. I used a Harbor Freight exhaust pipe expander to just slightly enlarge the flexible tubes to fit. |

| Thank you for the replies. I was going through a parts box in my basement, and came across a small section of hose that was the correct diameter for one side. Plan to take that to the locally owned FLAPS, where I get alot of my Bus parts from. Wonder why the size is so odd and not a standard size? |
