I've been looking for one for a while now. Are you selling them?

crofty Fri Sep 05, 2003 12:09 pm

I'm trying to get some made and it would be cheaper to make more than one.

crofty Fri Sep 05, 2003 12:20 pm

Yep.

I would definitely be interested. Were these a VW accessory in Australia or produced locally in Australia? They are cool and functional and I would like to have one. Thanks.

Crofty,

Do you know how sturdy those are? I cant tell from the photos. Is there a spot that they brace up against the nose behind the wheel? I might be interested depending on price.

Actually we don't see many 'roos here in New England. I don't think I ever saw more than a few out west either and most of those were in a Foster's ad.

They're good for protesters too. I live pretty close to Berkeley andd SF and it might come in handy more often than it would back east. I might give it a try during Critical mASS.

Any ideas how much they'll be, or how long it will take?

Looks good, I like the idea of being able to mount my spare up front without having to drill holes into the body. It also looks like it might make a good bike rack. Could I get mine powder coated in white? I would like to know a price too, looks interesting. - Thanks- Ron

I was thinking the same thing as Ron- I want the spare tire out of the cabin, but I really don't want to drill holes in the nose of the bus and deal with the rubbed off paint/ rust issue.

I figure if you had it bolt onto one of the frame "horns" (where the frame splits into a Y shape) it should be plenty strong enough to support the tire and thump Roos. You would have to cut the tie down loops off the frame, but that's no big deal if you add some to the bar.

Very interesting about the Roo Bar! My dad is from Australia and everyone I mean EVERYONE has them down there. My dad had one shipped up made for my moms Toyota PREVIA van and it was lightwieght aluminum and very very strong. I never thought on pimpin out my bus with one but Im gonna look into it for sure!

Whoever get one send post some pics!

Pretty slick - I'd probably be interested (depending on the price) especially if you could get them powdercoated or chrome...

Does anyone have plans for a roo bar, or do you know where I can find them on the net? I'm going to get a friend to build one for me.
