i just recently picked up a 70 squareback the other week..
im finding its hard to find parts for these over on the east coast..
a main question i have is what shifter would work on this car does it have to be just for a type 3 or could any bug ,bus , and such work they all look the same ...?
also the front beam is rotted at the bottom also wondering if that has to be from just a type 3 also...?

Yes, a bug shifter will work. I had one in my car before I got the correct shifter. You might want to get the right one, the Type 3 shifter is angled where a bug one isnt.
Type 3 beams are unique and different from bug and bus beams. |

| Take it to a Muffler Shop and have them patch/weld up your rusty beam. |
