I left the VW scene way back in 2004, mostly for personal reasons and more often than not , I was responsible, but never forget there are two sides to every story.
I left and spent the time building FJ40’s (mainly stock rebuilds) and Traditional Hotrods and Customs. (None of that rat rod sh!t NO BS LS motors… ) I found myself buying a 56 Plymouth Plaza two door wagon for my wife. While I was at the guys house / junk yard, I saw two squarebacks sitting regulated to the corner (hell there is a 8” tree that has grown up since it was put in its “spot”) . I have always had a soft spot for AC VWs and negotiated them in for free.
Picked up a copy of HotVW’s still the same old stuff in there (I’m guessing VW trends folded up?)
Here is a few things I’ve noticed.

1.Split buses…. WTF? Are they made of gold? I’d say that they’re 2.5 times the cost from 8 years ago. From projects to resto’d to customs… OUCH.
2.Lowering stuff looks way better engineered!
3.Cases have tripled in price.

I went back through my old post.

1. I couldn’t type, spell or even write a complete sentence.
2. I thought I knew a lot back then. Nope. Evidently I didn’t know everything at 22. Boy I sure thought I did.
3.How am I member number 26?

Think It’s cool that my post in body and paint is still stickied. Hope I have helped some people.


Oh well. Looks like things have changed since back then. (shark tank is gone?)

1. Splitties are just going to keep going up and up while Bugs have reached their peak.
2. But most of it is still not engineered correctly.
3.In the next few years you will not be able to get new factory VW heads and cases anymore. Bosch is now phasing out replacement parts for aircooled VW's, and a lot of it is NLA. All you'll have left is the China junk.

Welcome back to the Internet forum location thesamba.
Great place to search classifieds, and read and post information about VWs
But definately not the actuall VW scene, that would be at your local cruise night, or an actuall show.
Where there is actuall freedom of expression.
The sharks have muzzles now! :lol:

So you're saying my 3 "H" cases are now gold! :D :wink:
