The underside of my buggy was poorley painted black. I have stripped of all the loose material and want to paint it flat black. It has been hit with 80 grit on an orbital and wire brushed to pull the loose material out of the small spaces.
So will this look "decent" just primered and sprayed flat black? The only real visible parts will be the sides, they are somewhat smooth but no where level or perfect. Im fine with a textured/ rough type look...Just wondering if anyone has done somthing similar?

That will be option #2... I ordered paint so, Im going to shoot it and if it turns out crappy due to the not perfect surface then I will bedliner it. |

if you like sanding scratches and teeth marks, it will be fine. i would prime with a hi build and sand up to at least 600, perhaps even 800 depending on the paint. |

IF done right! It will look really good I think. I did this for a friend of mines awhile back. I just looked and don't have those pictures, but the here you can see, we did just the top part.. the rest was left black.. wish I had picture of it completed. But yours will look good if you're doing the sides etc..

| The problem you are going to have is that the 80 grit is still pretty coarse and will leave scratch marks all over no matter how much you paint or prime. Use 180 or finer grit to smoothe it out, then prime, do a feather coat of black to look for scratches, wet sand wth 220 and then 320, spot puttyif needed and resand with 220-320, reprime and paint. Make it look professional since you have it at this stage already. |
