Hello all, I've been around acvws for quite awhile, but only recently have I gotten into type 3s. I'm in the process of buying a squareback and I'm wondering how rare it s. According to the vin number it was built in Feb or 1962. I've looked through the classified ads and the forum titles and seems that there aren't that many real early squarebacks. Is a 62' a really rare year? Thanks for the help and I'm sure I'll be back when I have questions during the restoration process.

This would be a very early squareback, maybe the earliest known. Pictures would be great when you get the car.

Very rare indeed. Not many around, and yes it may be one of the first.

What's the VIN #?

Yes, that would be SUPER early for a Squareback.

I hate using rare but would call that rare.

The vin # is 023655. If I am reading the info correctly it was built in Feb of 62. If I am incorrect please feel free to let me know. Thanks

That's early March, 1962 but still really early for a Squareback.

Awesome...

Well, I have seen the car, and was given the vin by the seller, but as I have seen in the this very forum that there are untold early type 3s around. As promised I will get pictures next time I am at the square. Thanks

Could be 023655x making it an Aug of 63 ???

The last digit on my square's vin is hard to see (0069522).

I got a chance to see the car today and when I figure out how to do it, I will post some pics of it. I also got an eyes on view of the vin. It is actually 0233655 which makes it a July-Aug 63 build. Just thought I'd update since I hadnt been on in awhile

I am looking forward to this. Out of curiosity, does anyone know how many 63 square survivors are out there that are being driven? Anyone know?
