| The hoodride advice is to pee on it til it rusts and a bunch of wood screws to hold it together. |

Is that "expert" hood ride advice?
I don't really understand your question. Isn't the whole hoodride idea to drive around in something that looks like a piece of crap? You don't need a body shop for that! |

Repair rust and primer/krylon close match factory color as you go. The main thing I do is the mechanical stuff first to make it safe to drive and collect OG metal (fenders/hood/doors, etc) and do body work on them off the car. Once mechanical is restored I start on the body itself, attach all the repaired fenders, hood, decklid, doors and complete body work.
here is a pic of my hood ride that I have been daily driving for the last 20 years
Its been my test rig for the last 5 years or so and has been a blast the whole time. It has been the best $125 car I ever purchased!!! |

Im with the Doc on this. What are you trying to do? What was the body shop doing?
Do you want this to be a hoodride?
there IS a difference between a rat/hotrod and a hoodride. One is a pile of shit that needs to be put out of its misery. One is driven with a smile and is mechanically perfect. |

| i'm with the second one. the body shop was supposed to be doing the metal work primer and paint while i'm overseas on deployment right now, but decided that it was to much to take out of their normal schedule to do and part of me is ok with it, mainly after hearing about how they came and to my dads house and inspected it and thought the antenna holes were bullet holes  but they did a great job on my 62 ford. the car sat in a barn since the early 80's im the second owner of the shell. i want something that is mechanically perfect. the dreams of a show car are kinda fading away slowly and are being replaced by the want to just grin ear to ear every time i wrench or drive my aircooled |
