Interior rear view mirror has screws mounting the base to the windscreen surround. So a Philips screw driver works best if your car still has the original hardware

I meant to remove the glass inside mirror. Someone mentioned jewlers dauber. What is that? what does it look like? I was going to use a dull screw driver.

A small jewelers flat head screwdriver will work, if you have the patience to do it. I just restored (2) 1965/66 vert rear view mirrors. My patience lasted about 20 minutes before I decided to just break the glass. Made a templete & cut my own glass using a glass cutter and a 30 grit sanding disc.

If you go the screwdriver method, wrap some tage around the flathead area. You don't want to cause any chips on the edge of the glass while trying to open up the Aluminum edging

I slid an X-acto knife blade between the glass and the alum. I went around and around until the edge was open enough to get the glass out.
The glass shop charged $10 each to make a couple.
Then stick it back in and roll the edge back over. Keep going around until it's folded tight.
Sand away any wrinkles or defects, keep sanding with finer paper, then polish. It's hard to tell it's been changed.
