My thoughts are that a 12volt plug is great to have.

I had 4. Two in the front by the dash for the CB Radio and my iPhone. One in the rear by the table for the kids TV while travelling and one in the far back by rear hatch to connect to my trailer so my cooler would stay running.

All on its own fuse panel off the aux battery....

They used to be called cigarette lighters and the cigarette lighter socket. At one time all cars had them. Seemed like a V-10 '39 Lincoln had 5 of them between the front and rear seats. Early cars they were naturally 6 volt. Then later they started becoming optional. Then it was discovered that other items could be plugged into them to gain access to easy temporary battery power for other purposes.
I put one in my dash and use all kinds of different goodies in it. Next time I pull the paneling out of my bus I'll put a couple of them in the back.

Yup, used to be called cigarette lighters, now we went high tech and call them "Power Ports". Probably cost more too.

the only reason i didn't call it a cigarette lighter is because it dint come this the insert it was just the plug with a cap

Post a picture. I added one to my bus using a cheap kit from RadioShack. The PO cut a hole for an ignition switch that I no longer needed and it seemed like the best way to fill it.

Most modern ones are no longer true cigarette lighter ports as the couldn't tolerate the heating element in the actual lighters.
