in the classifieds there is a 58 panel who has flipped stock spindles and type one disc installed. anyone know how to do this?

ok just spoke to the owner and its a 60', he said the spindles were cut off and the beetle spindle was welded back on in place of. it added 3/8 to the width. is this safe or a death trap? no weight in it just a empty panel

Are panels supposed to be light?

Mine seems just as heavy as any other bus. :?:

I can provide drawings/specs for the adapters if your interested in making or have some made.

Jeremy I'd love to see more on this. An option for increased braking is always good!

Jeremy, you ever find the correct size grease seal for the hub?

I would really like to know more about this setup and the costs. Are you running stock 15" wheels? are you running a wide 5 pattern still?

jeremyrockjock Tue Jul 10, 2012 3:02 pm

Never did find the right seal. I haven't tried in many many years but I did change the grease in the bearings a couple years ago as a preventative measure. I don't know if you can run 15" bus wheels. I have not tried. I had 5 spoke when I first did it not running torque thrust beetle offset. I used wolfsgang adapters. I have read some people hate adapters but I have beem running the 8 years many many trips with no problems. They are 1/2" plate steel. PM me if you want me to email you the drawings. Here is a list of the whole setup

64-67 bus spindles
71 up bay bus front brake lines
71-72 bus rotors
71-72 bus calipers
112mm to 205mm adapters
make the caliper adapters

Bus rotors bolt right onto the 64-67 spindles. The only thing is like mentioned above the inner grease seal race is smaller on the 67 spindles so there is a gap between the 71 seal and the race

Ever try this seal Jeremy?

Yes, it does not press fit in the 71 rotor. OD is slightly smaller

I asked this question a few years back as there are a few barn door guys doing the same thing.
