Guys,

This is the proposed motor from Brothers Machine Shop. Please advise. I followed everyones recomendations and also asked brothers to make the changes and upgrade to dual carbs. It will fit onto fiberglass VW buggy. To be driven on the street and on the steepest dunes. I will post picks and feedback once I have the motor.

Thanks
Chris

Brothers said 9 to 1, but that can be changed.

I like 9 to 1. That is what I have. In the hot months I add octane booster by NOS to keep things safe. Never run less than 93 octane. I am fortunate enought to have a gas station that sell 101 octane and several places selling Cam 2 racing fuel. Run these when you can.

I am running 9:6.1 with that cam....no problems with 93 octane.

Running Cam2 would be a waste of money and cause you to run unnecessarily hot on 9:1.

More is not better.

Run the octane necessary.

Excellent combo.
Might not need the 30mm pump with a new case. I would drop down to 26mm assuming you will have external cooling.

what you say about running cam 2 . makes a motor run hoter with 9.1 cr . when i worked for vw in the 1970s . the motors were running very hot we told every one who bought a bug to run high test gas . back then reg, gas was from 94 to 98 octane high test was from 101 to 108 octtane . high test gas like cam 2 burns at a slower rate . than 93 octane gas .that burns at a faster rate and makes more heat when used in a motor . i cant see were running cam 2 gas would make a motor run hotter . spencerfvee volksfiend wrote: flyboat wrote: I like 9 to 1.
