I have a 7.7:1 1776cc with 040 heads and a c25 cam and 034 dist. Been running a 34 PICT untill I can afford a new carb.
My pict sucks, the volume screw hole is messed up. Came from the company with the screw SUPER tight.
When I'm lugging the gear a little (like 40mph in 4th gear) and give it alot of gas (3/4 throttle) it will ping.
Would that be the mix screw? Jets (55 idle, 130 main. Have 132.5 coming)?
I checked timing. Its at 7.5 degrees at idle. |

Run a better grade of fuel or back off the timing a few degrees.
40mph is too slow for 4th gear anyway. |

| Cupcake, this is closing the barn door after the horse escaped but I'll ask anyway, you have 7.7:1 compression ratio, what deck height are you running? |

hehe. Deck height was .075" the piston was .015 in hole and there was a .060" step in the heads.
It ran good with the kadrons.. Well exept for a hesitation, I think it was because the driver's side accel pump isn't a steady stream at first unlike the passenger's side.. Sending them out to get rebuilt.
Running a 34 PICT with timing at 7.5 degrees at idle and a 55 idle jet plus a 130 main. I have a new main coming just in case..
Oh and I realise that that's too slow in 4th but it shouldn't ping..
I'll check the plugs tomarrow. I got busy today with another vehicle. |

What would a too wide of spark plug gap do with the stock ignition? Like .035"?
Is that enough to cause run on and a slight hesitation problem with kadrons? Also have a little pinging when I give it alot of gas with 34 pict but not the kadrons
Trying to nail the basics. |
