After breaking a piece if glass, I thought I should ask how everyone else does it. I got all 3 rears installed just fine but cracked the front glass. I know I pushed too hard when the cord got hung up..
My question is where have you started the cord? At the bottom of the glass and worked up from there? Or at the side and worked across?[/list] |

| i have always had the best luck starting in the middle bottom as stated before, except i used WD40 as my lubricant of choice. i also installed all of my windows by myself. it is definitely better/easier with two though. |

be careful with that WD40 stuff. Can ef up your paint.
Use pumice free hand cleaner (Goop) or even baby shampoo ( no additives or purfumes to worry about) |

This question just came up in the "what did you do to your bug this week" thread. Btw, I use "quick detailer" when I do my windows. Its slick as snot and is made to spay on paint, so its a win win.

I'm going to replace the windshield on my '67 one of these days. I've seen many videos and read many articles on how to replace the windshield.
Any hints you would like to add that you found made the job easy?
Thanks
use weed whacker twine.
Its obviously a two person job, one on the inside pulling, one on the out pushing on the glass.
I used the same ol' thin rope I have used forever. I use two peices of rope that meet in the middle of the upper portion of the windshield, and the lower portion of the windshield. I overlap the peices, and starting on the top pull one side then the other in equal lenghs. Then I alternate between the top and the bottom, again pulling in equal lengths. Its not all that hard, just go slow, especially when you get to the lower corners. 8) |
