Guys,
since im converting to L-jet, i've routed a late bay accelerator cable into my 1972 bus. now that its in, its doesn't look to be long enough - just a little short.
I have the original late bowden tube installed through the trans carrier just like on a late FI bus, but i figure the pedal assembly may be a little different from early to late making this cable too short.
Here's some photos - anyone know how much of the cable is supposed to be sticking out of the end of the bowden tube into the engine compartment?
does my bowden tube look correct as well?
thanks
with the pedal floored....
the bellcrank lookslike this underneath:
and the cable stick this much into the engine area:
with the pedal all the way up, the bellcrank looks like this:
and the cable looks like this:
of course it must be too short, as when starting with the pedal up, it wont press all the way to the floor since the cable end just catches on the bowden tube...so i think this cable is a dud for thsi application
i want to modify the original long 1972 cable to suit, but i would like to know about how far the cable stick out of the bowden tube when the pedal is in the "up" position, so i can set it up per factory length before i install the engine - yeah i know, neurotic. we all got problems, humor me!! :P |

How about waiting until the engine's in and seeing how it actually works? Here's a real deal 78 FI bus for comparison, looks pretty damn close to me. :)
