:?: Can some one give me an idea of how to remove the rear side window with the small vent swivel window frame with it. What tools do I need to take with me to the yard - there is one in a local wreckers which is gleaming compared to the rusty one in my '79 Westfalia. Please advise before it goes to the crusher!
Thank you, thank you. |

| If you don't want to save the rubbers you can just cut them out otherwise you'll have to pry here and there This advice was just passed along to me: http://www.type2.com/~type2reflect/msg68965.html |

| Thank you Ratwell, this is a big help. It is the vent window frame that I want to preserve and so remove correctly. |

I'd have sent you mine for free- I took it out and replaced it with a one piece from a Transporter, no more leaking now and hopefully no more rust in that oh- so rust prone area.
I would definitley replace the rubber as these windows are notorious for leaking. Once you cut the rubber around the square window, pop it out, then remove the rest of the rubber (it's two pieces- one for the big glass and one for the vent window). Grasp the vent window frame and start gently tugging at it- it will slide towards the back of the bus and then you can rock it foward at an angle and remove it. |
