recently my bus has been giving me some crazy problems. I am of the less expeirienced bus owners but i know enough to get buy. well it has been having some sort of electrical problem since i owned it. i have the john muir guide for idiots and i have used it and it helps alot, but the guy who owned this bus before me was a complete moron from what i can tell he did not take too good of care of this bus. It is a 73 bay and it is supposed to have an alternator but from what i can tell it has a generator because it has those trademarks 3 holes like it is supposed to. it is also fuel injected instead of carbuerated and fuel injected models are not supposed to be jumped with jumper cables and i have jumped them a couple of times which i was told is really bad for your car. i have been taking frequent looks at my starter which looks to be old, worn out, and it has some corrosion on it. my solenoid does not look too well either. iahve a new battery and stuff. i also think that my voltage regulator is quite messed up too. when i first bought it, it ran well for quite a while and now i am getting nothing. a couple of days ago i could turn it to on and my EFI would turn on and the bus would not start but today i crawled under the bus and tightened up all my connections in the starter and solenoid, and it did start but i tried again and then i got nothing. just a click and then nothing no EFI activity or and red light my lights would not work or anything else. i am thinking it is my starter, solenoid, or generator/alternator ( still confused on which). hopefully someone can take this info and give me something. i really need soem help.

when you say "new battery and stuf" does the stuff imply all new cables including the one that comes off the tranny?

well my battery is brand new and my battery cables are very worn but my current prob. is that i have no power at all for the whole car no red light no green light no headlights or anything. all of that happened yesterday.
I do not think that my battery cables should have to much to do with the problem i have right now but i am gonna replace them in like a week or two.

woah! listen to what you are saying! "My current problem is that I have no power at all" how do you think you get power, it goes through the very old worn out coroded battery cables. you wont get any power if your ground cable is not conducting i.e. corroded. replace all three cables and see what happens.

I agree with Lucky. Assume nothing, fix what is obvious and go from there.

jsu be sure not to forget about the cable from the tranny to the frame, it is often overlooked. Good luck and let us know whats going on.
