Hi guys, I have a '68 Beetle with the 1300 dual port engine. I want to get a few small performance upgrades.

Does replacing the OEM air cleaner with an air filter make any difference? What else can I do besides that?

Regards

I've been to the Pakistan boarder.

Your answer. No. Make it run perfectly, in stock form first....

Then add the turbo decals and mismatched tires.

id keep it stock so you an fix it
can buy parts
can expect others to figure out how it works and stock works best there.

baring that reality

go here and buy this book ,
his chapter on bolt on power is there, " best of best"
do not change the filter casing, leave it stock, it's not just a filter
it has velocity stack and a carb heat port. and PCV feed.
and needs no parts at service time( used motor oil)!

Keeping it stock is your best bet...easy to repair anywhere...very reliable too.

No, fuel is pretty expensive here. $4.32 USD a gallon. HOBC costs $5.52 a gallon.

So, first up on the list.

- Short throw shifter, is EMPI alright?

BTW, I am planning on getting the front-end dropped a bit, 2'' at max. Would you suggest dropped spindles?
