Dose anybody know where I can find new notch pans? I know that square and slope pans will work, but finding these cars cheap and in good condition isn't easy. Someone told me that ghia pans will work but I don't now if thats true how about anybody out there? :?

You cannot replace pans on a Type 3 unless you have a donor car. Ghia pan halves are not the same dimensions or shape. All Type 3s share the same pan: Squareback, Notchback, Fastback, and Type 34 Karmann Ghia. The Square went one bit further and has a reinforcement channel running the length of the pan, but that won't affect your Notch.

The other alternative is to fabricate patch sections. Hope this helps.

MJHAYES, I see your in Dallas, I am not too far ( Houston) and I have a 68 pan I have tried to sell a couple of times but no one was close enough to come get it and shipping was a $$ hassle.

PM me for details if your interested... I have some pics...

I take it you provide used sheet metal? All the VW experts I know say the only NOS pan halves that "may" exist are across the Atlantic in Germany. I have reproduction replacement heater channels for sale that are on my web site (http://www.icnet.net/users/partsbin). Other than that, NOS sheet metal for a T3 requires quite a search.

thanks- are these removed in a manner that you can just remove your junk halfs and install these like a new bug floor pan half

Hi guys-

Yes these are Used but these are west coast used....no rust no holes perfect pan sections.http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/124373.jpg

We have cut them off along the tunnel and all a good welder needs to do is weld the new section to the tunnel.

--OR--We also sell the pans whole so when it arrives ...BAM add your suspension and motor ...nothing easier.

We also sell complete heater channels also , that were cut from good quality DOA [dead on arrival] cars. The stock metal fits really nice and need no modification as some aftermarket parts do.

The Pan in the photo above has not been hurt, no pans were hurt for this photo.

Just thought I toss this out to ya.
