I need some help. I have a '74 Westy which has a progressive single carb in her. I know nothing of carbs since my other bus is a '76 with fuel injection. This is my first carb VW and I am lost. I have been searching for a manual so I can work on it, but I have not found one. Does anyone know where I can get some info on this carb? Thanks.

Haynes has a Weber manual. Look for it on amazon.com.

Try these:

These articles come from a Datsun(?) site, but they are the most specific articles about the Weber/Holley progressives I have found. There may be a couple of more relevant articles on the site.

Since your just getting started with the progressive, I'll just say that it is a simple, sturdy carb, easy and inexpensive to maintain, parts readily available, but you'll have to live with some hesitation when accelerating. Try to get around to installing the stock distributor, or one of the dual-vacuum advance distributors from any of the late bay buses. ( I have a '72 bus, but I am using a distributor from a 73 auto trans.)The combination of the 009 distributor (there will be no vacuum hoses going into it) and the progressive carb is certain to cause hesitation and the proper distributor will greatly reduce or even eliminate this. If you've got the money, get rid of the progressive, ask around, and try an alternative. Otherwise, I don't think the carb does any harm, although it can't be a good thing to be jerking the bus as you try to get going.

This site will help you identify which distributor is for your van. The right distributor will eventually come up for auction or appear on this site. (Try not to end up with three "almost right" distributors...)
My 1700 is set up as follows:
Primary(big venturi) Secondary (small venturi)

Air correction jet (top of carb) 170 160
Main jet (in bowl) 140 140
Emulsion tube (under AC jet) F50(16 holes) F50
Idle jet 60 50

I can tell you that these #s are pretty close to other progressive carbs I have looked at.

There are really only three types of adjustments for this carb. The idle speed, the idle fuel mixture, and the choke. The above articles should help.
