My 70 bus has a ford starter relay wired into the circuit to relieve a hot start problem that the previous owner had(I assume). Since I have to change the starter soon anyway I was thinking about just putting the starter wiring back to stock and run a new # 12 wire to the ignition switch.
Is their another reason to keep the ford relay, other than the hot start problem caused by high resistance in the old solenoid wire?.......................Thanks |

leave it. a relay takes a potentially low voltage signal from your ignition switch and brings battery power to the solenoid in it's place while starting. you save the distance. a new starter will not eliminate old wiring.
if it bugs you that it's a ford and are feeling somewhat euro, put a bosch relay in. it does the same thing. work for nothing.

| Unless you were restoring something as Stock, I would leave it. :) |

| I think the installation of the ford relay to cure some sort of starter problem might have been something I read about in the Muir book. |
