1955 Portuguese bus. (Wolfsburg bus)
Dove Blue
1641 with twin Weber 36's
CSP Front disc brakes
Creative rack and pinion steering
Creative weedeater beam with dropped spindles
IRS with adjustable spring plates
Gene Berg shifter
Wolfgang safaris

Originally a panel van but the side windows were put in straight from factory in Portugal in 1955 to create work for the portuguese so proper VW panels used.
LED rear lights now added for extra safety from my mate at Custom Lights.

Very nice. The Portuguese windows are interesting as well.
Your friend should post an ad on this site for LED lights. |

Cheers guys, Just sorting the interior at the moment so all I have in there is a full width retrimmed Westfalia R&R bed. Plans are for a double bulkhead seat to match. Plus fit a wood Westie roof. Plus a couple of side pop outs needed.
Some more pics...

Well I've been busy during the long dark winter over the pond...
New Autocraft long sill fitted...
Then I thought I'd spray the roof and sort some bubbling at the bottom of the front panel. Then I thought I'd may as well spray the whole van
Fresh coat of Dove Blue on :)
Will post some more pictures later 8) |

I'm not throwing stones, but I have to ask why you didn't keep the old paint and just blend in the repair areas?
It looks really nice and all, but as they say, "It's only original once."
Just curious. NOT bashing at all. |

There wasn't much original paint. When it was bought into the UK from Portugal it was due to be cut up for parts. The bottom 12" was shot. A major rebuild was needed and only about 20% of the paint remained original.
The roof and gutters needed doing this time around. That on top of the long panel and bottom of the front panel it was easier to do the whole van.
I was going to age the paint again but decided to make it shine instead :) |

Cool. I felt certain there was a good reason, and thats about as good as any I can think of.
It really does look good. You should consider having one of the mods move the thread to the split bus forum.
Thanks for sharing. |

Cheers mate, it's not a show winner but that isn't the look I was after. I still want it useable without having to worry. Once all done I'll post up in the split forum ;) |
