i have a question regarding the turn signals on my 63 notch..
in many pics, i see different lights for the same model year. on mine, the front bullets are clear, while the side markers are amber... i often see the opposite, AND i have seen 63's with wraparound lights as well. how do i find out what "spec" my car is, and if this has anything to do with my lighting or other features?
everett, you'll be happy to know that the car is just about done @ the paintshop. they are fitting the last of the mouldings on monday, and i get to pick it up early next week. that right rear fender required just about 20 hrs of work to get it perfect.. hahahaha.. not cheap. we also media blasted the underside of all fenders and treated them w/por-15, as well as the fenderwells... i think that's a better move than rubberized undercoating, no?
i'll send pics asap. |

Clear front bullets and amber side marker lights probably means it was a Canadian car. Or from the Netherlands. Or a couple other countries. These are "export" cars that got turn signal side marker lights.
Amber bullets and red/white side marker lights are German cars. And a few other European countries.
If a '63 has wrap-around lights, it's either not a '63 or someone changed it.
Already at the paint shop? Damn, you work fast. Yes, I think POR-15 beats rubberized undercoating. |

My 67 Square is going to need some treatment underneath as well. I was "ASSussming I was going with the rubberized, but now now I am wondering ???
Por-15 ? Better why ? Soundproofing also ? |

| Undercoating is not a great rust preventer. It traps moisture under it on the body and can actually promote corrosion. Por, Corroless, and other products are better at protecting the metal. Some are meant to go over rusty metal and some need to be put on bare metal to work. You can always topcoat it if you need sound insulation. Check in at the paint and body forum for more info. |

yeah everett.. it's been in the paint shop since about 2 weeks after i got it from you. i couldnt stand letting such a nice car roll around with so many little dings and dents. got rechromed bumpers, new windshield, new front and rear trunk rubber, took the fenderbeading out and scrubbed the heck out of it with westley's bleach-white, and soaked it in super hot water to soften it up a bit... the body guy broke one of the rear fender beds, so i am on the lookout for one or a full set... i might even break down and buy it in black, but i'd hate to do that to such a nice car.
i should have it back by wednesday, so i can send some pics. |

Ok, I was confused at first that this was the '63 I sold.
The fender took 20 hours of work? Wow, that seems like a lot.
There is a guy selling beading on the site somewhere, I don't know if he has that piece but you could ask...
Was the front and rear trunk rubber bad? Or it just got trashed removing it for paint? |

it was just destroyed from removal...
all of the rubber with the exception of a few small bits were in really good shape. |
