When converting from lug bolts to studs and conventional lug nuts is it as simple as - take out lug bolt, put locktite on stud, screw stud in until it stops, attach lug nut?
This is the way that I did it last night, while leaving all tires on the car.
Effective and safe?
Haven't driven it yet because the weather has been to nice to leave the motorcycle at home. |

| It's best to use the PRESS in studs and not the SCREW in studs. The press in won't come out. |

And what is the chances of the screw-ins coming out? I figured since they are made by EMPI for their EMPI rims that they would do the trick. I also used blue loctite. |

I did it similar to that, except that I had the tire off the ground. I also used an allen wrench to run them in to the proper depth, before I reassembled them. This will work, but you really need to check the rears so that they aren'yt hitting the brake parts and springs. I hope this helps. |

I did raise each tire so that the rims would center on the studs. I also used an allenwrench to tighten the studs. Also learned that a standard tire iron does not work well on EMPI eight spokes (socket walls too thick). Switched over to a socket and breaker bar to take lugbolts off and new nuts on. Of course being careful not to overtighten.
I rotated both rear tires to ensure that the studs were not hitting any internals. All seems good. Thanks for the feedback. |

Think about that coment... these days EMPI is not know for quality.
BTW... you won't pass TECH at the track with screw in studs... it's a safety thing. |
