In addition to that question, since I think I answered it (Is it a 1970 type III) I had another question- It appears that the block is from a type III but that other things on the engine were replaced with type II parts, such as the air intake housing. This engine has changed hands several times so I know nothing of its history, however is it possible that it has a bunch of parts from at type II but retains the orignal type III block? thanks, I'm a little confused.

You could convert a Type 3 engine into an upright-type engine. That would involve installing a bunch of Type 1 or Type II parts.

my engine block is from 72, but has a bunch of wrong type parts too... my generator housing seems to be from a type 1, but i figured they rebuilt the type 1 for the type 3 cuz it doesn't have the rear mounting hardware... in addition, i have late model parts for my 68 square...
