I pulled the vinyl trim panels from the inside rear (luggage area) of my 68 Squareback. Behind the left panel there is an opening approximately 4" x 16". It looks like there is supposed to be a metal cover over it because there are screw holes to hold a cover in place. But there is no cover there. Is that supposed to be closed? Seems like the air coming in from the left side cowl vents goes into the passenger compartment instead of being forced to the engine.
I noticed the right side does not have an opening or panel. Just solid sheet metal.
I fabricated a cover and put it into place but want to make sure it is supposed to be closed before I run the car and possibly overheat something. |

| I think that is where the fuel injection brain sits? Not positive though. |
