| HAPPY HALLOWEEN all of you. I need help. I am still battling problems with my Super. I can get it to turn over fine but when it warms up a little and its time to idle, it just quits on me. I have taken my carb apart (34pict3) and have cleaned just about everything and have blown air thru all visible jets but still no luck. I'm wondering if there is a good 3d drawing available somewhere that I can reference, to make sure I get all jets. Can anyone help ? :( |

Try this. Not 3D but pretty good. What's your carb doing? Did you soak it?

| I have soaked the bowl with carb cleaner and removed all screws and blew out every jet I could find with air. I can't tell if all the setting are correct or not, so I guess I will have to make small adjustments as I go. It just seems like it won't idle no matter what I do. |

You soaked the bowl? You really should soak the whole carb. Tear it completely apart, and soak the body of the carb in the gallon cleaner. The aerosol cans aren't worth a crap. So, get the gallon can (with the small parts basket), and soak that puppy. Don't forget to remove all rubber from the carb, as the cleaner with disentigrate the rubber.
After it's soaked for about an hour, take out the carb body and rinse it out good with water. Then, blow through every passage you can get too with compressed air. Reassemble, and
adjust.http://www.geocities.com/aussiebug1970/carb_41.html |

Parts book with VW Part numbers -> http://www.1800vw.bizhosting.com/0.carb.solex.htm
Make sure the throttle shaft is not sucking air and remember no amount of adjusting the carb will help a motor in poor condition.

Its a straight forward thing for a carby to idle....
Did You take out all the carby jets and clean them??
Maybe its Your distributor.... Has everything been tuned correctly?

I think I have finally figured it out. The main jet on the 34pict3 does not have the right size hole in it. Since this was a replacement Carb it did not have the standard setup that the original would have for this year model.
So, I will have someone drill out the right size hole for me and I should be back on the road.
thanks for all the help |
