Im restoring a crew cab for a client and we have been going back and forth with color ideas. Hes not a vw nut and originally wanted to spray the bus yellow and white. Ive since talked him out of that and explained the colors should be original if he wants to protect his investment. He came up with a bunch of photo shops using stock colors but they are two colors that never came together. I actually like the look of the rendering but Im afraid the rendering doesnt have "sea blue" and "pacific blue". Whats you guys take?

I'd say do Dove Blue.

Definitely a single color that is model year correct for the DC.

What is happening to the rest of it ? If he is lowering it and putting fancy wheels on it ( although I'm not a fan ) I think you can get away with certain non stock colors if its tasteful. If its staying stock height and wheels then i think any non original colors look wrong , as does 2 tone. Then again if its painted specific company colors in a style of the time , like say a garage service vehicle then that could look good on stock height . Now I'm confused as well !!

If he uses 2 colors, I would at least use 2 colors from the stock VW paints that year for a regular bus.

I think SWR would be a perfect color on a 60 dc. What color was it from the factory?

Ide say Dove blue below the beltline, white above the beltline with a dove blue roof, almost commercial style. ....but if it was mine and I WASNT doing it the stock color I'de do it turkis or all dove blue.

I was at Bugorama and saw a sleeper bad ass Double cab and it was all OG paint in Sealing Wax red. I was picturing it with a show quality paint job! That would be the ultimate ride!

Turkis and SWR are also great colors or an early 356 color named Slate Grey! Yup!

How about palm green / sand green? It's not a correct color combo for that year but I think it would be tasteful. But if I had to do it for me it would be the stock original color.

If/when it is sold it will be worth more if it is the original colour. If that isn't a concern, paint it whatever colour the owner prefers.
If you want to spice it up a little, a white pinstripe around the belt line looks great, won't detract from value, and it's easily removable if need be.
