I'm still lookin' myself. Just talked with Dennis out at Western VW and he seems to know his stuff. He's down by 160 and Rainbow.

Have you checked-out Beetle Barn or BugShack 2? They're both in the Nellis and Lake Mead area. I've also talked with the Guys at Beetle Barn and they were very helpful.

However, I'm in the same boat as you. Waiting for someone to RAVe about their mechanic before I make any big choices.

Let me know if you find one before me, and I'll do the same.

invest in a tool set and a jack.. also maybe a chilton book. will save you time and money.

Tyler,
Thanks for that great advise. I can't believe I didn't think of that myself, considering I did the fab work on my motorcycle and most of the wrenchin' on my truck. Silly me!

Oh wait. I'm scensing your sarcasm. Wow that was a funny one, can't belive I fell for that.

On a more serious note. I've always noticed the ACVW world seems more like a family, than a group of people with the same cars, and I thought someone out there may have some good advice for me and Zach.
I probably could figure out most of my problems I will encounter working on my'71. However, it would be nice to have a seasoned ACVW guru to turn to in times of need.

Again thanks, but no thanks. I'll wait for some real advise before I jump in with both feet.

I do have the manual and a jack and jack stands. I love it.

I can't work on my cars at my aprt. complex. I have been warned twice.

I have followed the instructions for setting my carb but I am still having idle probs and was hoping someone that does it for a living could get it to work right.

thanks for the info.

Sorry about going off like that, my mistake. Thought you were one of those forum ***holes with nothing better to do than pick on forum newbies. Kids are in bed now and I have a beer! Much calmer.

You are right though, working on them is great fun. More fun then that motorcycle (too exspensive).

Zach what area of town you live in? I have room to work and could probably use your advise now and then if you know you VW stuff. Anything helps

Z-
I.m near the airport off of Russell.

I went to another place today. Stephens Buggie shop. It's a small family owned place. One bay, maybe fit two bugs in there. Seemed like nice guys, but I'm still not sure. So far I've been most impressed by the Beetle Barn.

They didn't go for that hard sell. Seemed very busy with All VW's, Audi, and Porsche. Shop seemed clean. They were letting some guy use their tools so he could work on his Super in the parking lot. I think this is going to be my place to go when I need answers (soon as I get off these crutches, hard to drive a stick on one good foot)

I've got a budy that has a 72 SB and when he needs a mechanic he takes his to Madrids. Their shop is in the same parking lot as Nevada Off Road. They are on Valley View, just north of DI. I haven't had any work done by them yet, but they did come highly recomended to me.
