I'm looking for the right thing for grinding. I've tried a rotary file, 60 grit, 36 grit sanding wheels. I've tried using the edge of the cut off wheel lightly but I just can't get the welds to finish and be clean. What's everyone else doing? Thanks |

^^ What he said. An angle grinder and some coarse flap discs will take any weld down in no time. Using a flap disc helps keep the area a little cooler than a grinding wheel too.
Since it leaves a smooth finish, be careful you don't over grind and make any of the surrounding metal too thin. I learned this the hard way a couple times. |

these work great on a 4.5" grinder , They do require a backing plate on grinder ..
There cotton fiber ..

Interesting, I've never seen those for sale up here. How would you compare them to flap or cutoff discs? |

If you have a thick weld take it down most of the way with a cutting wheel then knock it flat with the flapper or I also use a 3in 50/60 grit on a high speed angle tool. |
