| Howdy, I have a SB with the standard 1600cc motor in it. I bought it with some weird mexican carb on it. Today I took that carb off and put it on my other 73SB. So im in the market for a new carb. My question is...What is the most performance and quality I can get in a single carb for less than $200? Is there such thing as a quality performance carb for less than $200? Do you have a website with a sweet price on it? Thanks a ton. |

Is your enging single port or dual port?
For single port, I've had good luck with new Brosol H30/31 Pict Solex carbs.
They can be bought new for between $85 and $125 from your local VW shop.
They also sell an adaptor plate to go to a dual port, but I don't think that is a good idea, another restriction in the line, and you air cleaner gets offset. |

| :oops: Ok...this is sad...but here it goes. How can I tell the difference betwen the single port and the dual port :?: Mine looks like this http://fallingsideways.4t.com/Picture%20006.jpg and this http://fallingsideways.4t.com/Picture%20007.jpg. I know your asking.."how the hell does he have leaves in his engine compartment?" Extended deck lid hinges under a tree. |

Clint;
Looks like a dual-port (dp) to me. Dual port means that each head has two intake holes - one going to each cylinder.
The stock carby would be a Solex 34pict3. If it was mine, and I basically wanted a daily driver, that's the way I'd go.

| Ok, it had the Solex 34pict3 on it. So it is dual port. It has headers on it with the hide away exhaust. If I was to go bigger with the carb how big could I go? And what to I have to do to make it fit? What do I get to come off of the intake holes? Is there a web page maybe that could tell me more about this? :shock: |
