| Looking to replace the shocks on my 68 Squareback. Are these available at standard auto part stores, i.e. Auto Zone, or do they have to be ordered from a VW parts distributor? |

| When you conact your FLAPS, ask them for some shocks fro a 65 and earlier bug (link pin front end) as they just might have those in stock. Most places don't even know what a type3 is, let alone have parts for it. But most places do know what a bug is, and if you know what interchanges with them, you can save your self some time and head aches. I hope this helps. |

Got on Auto Zones website and did a search for front and rear shocks for a 68 VW. It then gave me a drop down box to select which model, and Squareback was listed. $12.99 per shock. Gonna get them changed tomorrow. :P |

Well turns out that Autozone was out of stock on the shocks. So down the road I went, to Checker Auto. Got some new Monroes for the car. Man it sure rides better now.
Funny thing when I was changing the front shocks. The bottom mounts had no nuts holding the shock on the stud. Damn I hate those kinds of surprises. |
