For a stock 72 engine (009 distibuter), Im getting 2 differant stories on what cabs? Either the Progressive 2 barrel or the... dual carb setup!
They say the Progresive is hard to get the Jets correct and the Dual setup is a constant pain to keep running as well?
Who is running what and also the brand? I just wnat something reliable and a little more power! |

| I am not a big fan of the weber progressive and would go to the effort of having a set of solex's rebushed and rebuilt. |

I have had good luck with the progressives, they are not hard to jet, pull the top off and they are very accessable. they get a bad rap from people (IMO) who either have/ had some other engine issues, or just did not know some tips tricks to get the thing dialed in. and or maybe got ahold of a " bad carb" there are some duds out there, just like any other carb that was produced.
Rebuilts can be an iffy proposition. But I have seen some new in the box run and act funky too. in other words a few bad apples shouldn't spoil the whole bunch...
The do not make the power that duals will, but have a choke which may appeal to some in certain climates and they are not as hard to get tuned and set-up.. IMO duals are for people who like to tinker and can do the work when needed or for people who can pay to have it done.
I am not against duals, I can and have seen the merits of both set-ups, it really depends on the owners preference/situation/driving style... |
