| Anybody ever installed one of those urethane bushing and transaxle mount kits in a super? I've heard both good and bad...like it helps cure the super shimmy but that it causes rough handling, transmits more noise and vibration, etc. Any input? |

not bad on the front end... can cure some supers of the shimmy that everything else did not solve.
don't care for them on the trans though... IMO they suck for that. |

| Urethane seems to squeak on any automotive application. IMO |

Just put a complete set of urathane bushings on the front of my '71 Super, what a difference! Haven't had any squeeks since doing it.
A little advice (sorry). Don't know if your planning on doing the front end, but if you are, get everything first and do it all at once.
My grandpaps had it since original and never did a thing to the front, and it was obvious when you hit 45mph. Just plain hard to keep your fillings from falling out.
I went to www.toplineparts.com and followed their advice. New balljoints, strut inserts, steering dampner, all urathane bushings, basically everything they said (they're the experts). Also spent the money and bought their lowering struts and springs.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE....... not a hint of the shimmies at any speed.
Easy afternoon job if you've got the tools and space. I actually had to go and buy two-way pliers, mid-job, and still finished in the afternoon.
Good luck..........pm if you've got any questions while it's still fresh in my mind. |
