| i need some help trying to figure this out....when i turn the key to the first turn...a clicking sound starts and i was wondering if thats normal (i have a 68 SQback) and if it is what is it? i looked under the car and its coming from a small cude thingy and it has a hose, when i moved it my hands smelled like gasoline...so if anyone can tell me what it is cool and thanks |

It's your electric fuel pump.
It shouldn't smell like gas unless there's a leak. I'd check into that asap. |

| ok so its an electric fuel pump which should be checked soon...i think the hose clamp needs to be tightened...so the clicking is normal right? |

When you turn the key the first click is the fuel pump relay the next set of clicks (more like a whirr) you hear is the electric fuel pump. If you don't hear those clicks your car will not start. Good luck
