I recently picked up a pair of rear sliding windows for my '71 bus, the hardware and style is the same as that found on the middle sliding windows seen on later bay window busses. Does anyone know when these were offered or whether they were optional equipment?

Thank you for the photo, I have been trying to verify the existence of these things for 15 years and everyone told me I was crazy, but I swore I saw a bus with them heading in opposite direction one day and have been looking ever since. I felt like someone who claims to have seen a UFO. So last month the search ended in South America, but not easily, even there there are extemely hard to find, and I carried them under my arm right onto the airplane. But, it ain't over, I am trying to import them and will post on this board when I can supply them.

I would love a set of those windows. Let all of us know when you can get those. I'm sure every one with a bay will want them.

It's hard to tell in the picture if it's the original american style seal or if the owner added the trim to a euro bus...

I will post a picture of my windows here soon, I am planning on using standard rear window replacement seals, I have already converted two '71's to eliminate vents by replacing existing windows with late model middle sliders and making both rear windows solid windows. I am hoping this is just as easy. My son just picked up a '71 bulkhead to restore and this will be the first one set up with all four sliding windows. As mentioned we will post here when we have a supply, in the meantime feel free to send us your email address and we'll start a mailing list as well. Also if anyone has any info on bulkhead models we'd love to have it.

Are the ones that are like those for the middle windows hard to find. I would like to replace my windows with them. I currently have the 3 windows in each that lift up when you crank the handle. Are the ones for those windows hard to find? I have not seen any advertised.

I have had pretty good success finding middle sliders at junkyards, the rear sliders I have are the only ones I have ever seen, but I hope to change that real soon. I give away the cranking jalousies, just don't care for them.

yeah I really don't like them either. I will have to check some local yards to see what I can come up with.
