My wife and I have been working on our sons costume all weekend and I wondered if anyone else has done anything else VW related. He is going as Jim Douglas from the original Herbie movie. He watches the movie almost everyday. Here is a few pictures of his ride that is going to take him around our neighborhood for trick or treating. I also wired up some lights to make it safer to drive at night.

You can make an easy Bus Costume with a cardboard box. Or any car/bug if you get creative...
You pretty much paint the cardboard box like a bus. glue some paper plate wheels. Or print some on paper and glue em on.
Remove the bottom.
Cut a hole in the top (you wanna keep parts of the top intact to keep the corners rigid, so the sides wont fold) You fit it by stepping into it and pulling it up under your arms.
Then attach some suspenders.
You can get a bigger box for an adult.
