| Hey there everyone.I have a 1600c.c. engine with a Bosch 009 distributor. It has a stock single Solex 30 carb.I think i am seriously under carbed.I have a single Webber 40 that i was thinking about putting on.I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me if thats way to much for my car.If it is can you tell me what i could get to have the engine run the best that it can. |

| I don't think the stock one is under carburated. Is it a single or dual port motor? |

Single Weber carbs can be a bear to tune, due to the long intake runners and fuel dropping out of suspension. The IDF Manifold with good working heat risers seem to make them work a little better. If you've already got the carb and manifold, then what do you have to lose by trying it? Fuel economy will probably suffer, though. I put a 44IDF on a basically stock 1600 and got it running OK with a couple vent/jet changes, but it wasn't worth the work, performance wise. It was a little quicker, but everyday driving in stop and go traffic wasn't as good.
But, I agree with Mofo, I don't think a 30Pict is way too small for a 1600. Ideally, a 34pict and vacuum distributor would probably be best, but a 34 pict can run OK with an 009, also. |

hi guy as a 1302-S 1600 cc I think you refered to an a 34-pict 3 rigth? if not what I can tell you its that taking apart the original carb an adding a a smaller one it can improove your fuel comsuption but not performance what I did to mild improove it to add a electronic ingition and a higer coil as air filter thats what can afford anyway at this time
good luck :P |
