I won't post the link because certain people get confused and think I am plugging my ad but what do people think of the 64' deluxe BUS (green & white) recently posted in the classified from taunton, ma
A good deal || bad deal || ok deal?
I have seen the bus but I can't remeber if it has a middle seat, I know that it had a really nice headliner.
Is that a turkish green color? Is it stock? |

This?

The lower half should be L380 Turquoise. It looks too green to me, turquoise is darker.
Original paint Turquoise:

thanks everett
Something bothers me about that color, could be because:
1 ) my bus has a orange peel job of that color that someone did over the mouse grey
2) I saw a og sealing wax red 21 windows painted over with the color this summer - awful
3) it seems many people paint splits in that color and then put on those magnetic flower thingies
I get excited whenever I see any bus in my area though = I enter the fetish addict zone quickly of "got to have it" or "all I need is to do is sell this or that " or "its onlya 45 min drive away, I'll just take a looksee"
I suspect many people on site find themselvse in that predicament |

I have the same problem. I keep looking at split buses around my area everytime they are in the paper or on the Samba. Although I have enough project's, there's always room for another, right?

For as little detail as he gives, $9500 seems a little high!

I agree. Without further information, $9500 seems high.
I can say this because I know of a nice '63 15-Window walk-thru that sold for $9500.
This Bus is a '64, a bench, and the wrong color.
I do like the fact that he has a 1-800 number though. It's definately worth a call if you are in the market for a hardtop Deluxe in that price range. |

| i think people on the east coast seem to list any bus around for more than they are worth. or more than west coasters think they are worth. you just don't see them that often here. i saw one in no. nj that had bay interior and a big dent in the roof w/ orange peel paint and the guy wanted 6 or 8k for it. it was either a kombi or a standard i forget which. a lot of scratch. if i could do it all over again, i would buy a non running west coast rust free bus. it is worth it to avoid the east coast rust busses that are around here(if you can find one) mine being one of those rusty busses... |

yup I think most would agree with east vs. west coast dubs.
Hovever, there are some og buses around with not too much rust, usually vehicles people bought as summer rides or drove from west coast and parked in a barn etc..
I have noticed that towns/cities directly on the coast have more older daily driver cars presumably because of the milder weather and less salt. |

I grew up on the east coast and had lots of family that lived right on the coast. There is salt in the air every day of the year from the ocean. I remeber my grandma had a 6-7 year old ford with big gaping holes in the body. Unlike road salt, it doesn't stick to the lower portion of the car, when you open the window it starts rusting the inside too. |

Rob,
I saw that ad and thought it was a pretty nice looking bus. If he paid somebody to restore it, then I bet he has more than that into it. Sometimes people just post an ad with a fairly high price just to see if they can generate some interest. It certainly seems worth a look, but might be hard to test drive now, depending on where it's stored.
Aren't hardtop deluxes a little bit rarer than sunroof ones? At least you wouldn't have to worry about two feet of snow sitting on top of it
Let us know how it looks if you go see it.

Thats true of corner window buses but 13's are plentiful. I see way more of those than I do 21's. |
