View original topic: Anyone fit 8" rims on the rear?
bderewic Thu Oct 31, 2013 10:17 pm

Im thinking it would be fun for a little to stance out my notchback and Im curious if I could run the off road dish rims 15x6" up front with 155/60 and 15x8" in back with 185/60, Im sure I would have to run a narrowed beam up front but I'm wondering if the back will fit, my notch is slammed 2/3, but seems lower.

What do you guys think?

my notch is beat, the pan is soo gone, I have an extra pan and eventually im gonna restore it purist style but in the mean time I'm thinking of having some fun and toying around with the stance look

Upon drawing the stock and dish rims sizes and offsets in google sketchup i dont think 8" will fit on the back, the rims stick out an extra 2 1/6", so I would have to narrow the rear 4" to get 8" rims to fit :( haha

I'm gonna have to say no. Make that hell no!

This is what 17X8" 50ET Boxter wheels with 235/50/17 tires on early Porsche 944 arms with the factory spacer (you'd need to flare about 2"+ to make this happen:

Same wheels w/o factory spacer (the inner sidewall is dangerously close to the spring plate and you'd still need to flare at least 1" or more):

Those boxer tires are 2.5" taller and 2" wider than mine...
I did find this thread though...

there is a car half way down running a bbs rim 15x8 et20 with 185-55 15's. and it seems to work, the wheels I wanna get list a 37.5mm offset (im assuming this is et37) which would put them under the car a little more? but i am slammed soooo... maybe i should try thinking about 7" rims

Man that looks good!

Can you find out the ET? Is your front end narrowed at all? How many clicks are you dropped?

Thanks! Its 3 piece custom made rims! so I have to measure to find ET
I am soon going to take off the wheels, so can try and measure it then!

Stock front end, its lowered 3 outer clicks in the front and 2 in the rear!

This is how it sits in the rear! there is enough clearance! Lips are rolled! ;)

I'm running 15x7 et0 with a 165 tire on the rear of my Squareback. I did do a little fender pulling but it's not super obvious. 8 inches will fit with the right offset & ride height

Rear 17x8 et35 205/40-17 stock long axles and pulled fenders

I measured the backspacing of the wheels today! And it was 5,67 inches!
So I put that in a backspacing to offset calculator
- 7,5x16" wheels are et36
- 8x16" wheels are et 30

That fitment and stance is on time!! Looking to do this to my notch, i was thinkin i would have to narrow the rear end but idk now, its working with a little fender pull.

What Wheel and Tire specs are on the front?

Car is sick
