| I disassembled my 74 Super Beetle's column to replace an electronic ignition switch... Now the column will not go back in the hole completely where the two hex bolts line up... do you know what I'm missing? Is there a bushing I need to replace or something to get it back together? |

Did you pull the whole column tube and the ignition/turnsignal housing? or what did you do?
normally you would just remove the steering wheel and the turn signal/wiper switch assembly and get to the ign, switch assembly from there... |

| Yes, Unfortunately I pulled the whole column out .... after the fact, I discovered that I only need to pull the ignition part off... This is my first SB so I'm making rookie mistakes... My other beetle was easier but that was 12 years ago. |

I think you have just not shoved the column tube down into the rubber ring/grommet where it goes through the body/ firewall.
put some kind of armor all/ silicone spray stuff on the tube and rubber part and make sure it is lined up to go through. |

| I'll give it a shot and see what happens... My local VW part shop told me there was a bushing that I had to line up just right and then it would go on. I'll try some WD40 as well |

| Got it in finally... the dang lip on the column was the problem... I probably did a no no by shaving off some of the lip so that it fit in the rubber bushing easier... but after that and about 12 cuts on my hand pushing...it's all back together.... |
