NEWBIE ALERT!!

Ok... So I have been taking my 70 Beetle Vert pretty much done to metal except for the luggage area, trunk, and engine compartment where there is OG paint. The color is now red and I plan to paint it blue.

My question is, if there is no rust. (or just a couple of small areas that i can treat) do I take those areas down to metal as well or just prime over them? The thing I hate the worst at car show is the outside of the car being a different color than the interior and trunk. To me those areas look like a PAIN IN THE BUTT to get to!

Thoughts? Ideas? As always, thank you!

Scuff it, prime and paint. No need to remove a good base. Then, in a while you will have something new to hate: Chips and scratches that are red in your blue.

My painter suggested just using a scotch brite pad on the dash/interior and in areas like the trunk. It worked well. Reserve some of your paint for a touch up kit, and if you do get scratches, you can conceal them.
