It is time to install my early heater box "shin guards" and I finally found a better source for the strapping http://jogrusa.com/products/heater-wrap-insulation-kit-50-67-bus I simply ordered a length of the strapping and a few clips.

On the left is the repro strapping I bought a few months ago from Bert3, the middle is the JOG strapping, and the right is the original.

Excellent!

It's getting cold outside, so I've had heater tube insulation on my mind lately. I'm liking that insulation material he's got. It doesn't look the same as the stuff used on later (64-up) heater tubes, but might be a decent functional replacement.

Does this look correct?

Here's a page which details the early heater box restoration process

I don't think so. I believe the straps were originally installed in a manner that did not result in any 'loose ends'.

The elbows should be gray in color, same as the exhaust system.

Looks outstanding.

Yeah, the powdercoater screwed it up. I have another set, but I'm going to wait until I have another big batch to run.
