hi,
today the Generator light came on and after driving 30 miles with the light on got home, a replaced the Generator brushes and the light came off, the issue is that the generator is making sparks against the new brushes, i don't know if this es normal or is part of braking inn the new brushes process,
i don't want to mess up my generator, what do you guys think is this normal y never took a look at it before so i have no idea is this is an issue.
here is a video:

thanks for the help

sparky generators are normal- that means they are working. |

do the sparks disappear with time or will they always be there?
i just never notice them before |

They'll always be there most likely- more so at revving speed than at idle. |

You might smooth the commutator and make sure the gaps are filed clean. Gaps cause sparks, and a worn commutator will make a larger gap.

today i check the volts coming from the voltage regulator and they measure 14.3 at idle and 16.5 when i accelerate the engine, this means i damage the regulator when i kept on driving after the generator light came on,
ill change the regulator the day after tomorrow and see if the sparks go down a bit along with the voltage, i don't want fried my generator.
what do you guys think |

That's probably a good idea. |

Yeah those sparks are a little excessive but if it is making 16 volts then the regulator must also be bad and that may be causing the excessive sparks. You could just put in a new Bosch solid state voltage regulator and perhaps clean the commutator with some commutator stone. (I found some stone at the auto parts store for like a dollar, I think they are just calcium).

One more thing, it may have boiled the water out of your battery too. |
