View original topic: VW buggy, engine runs not so good. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi,
I made a buggy, but the engine does not work 100% good, I've tried many things, such as capacitors, new carb, ... but nothing helped. Have you an idea what the cause is?

Sorry for bad English.

It sounds like its not running on all cylinders. I would start with a compression test.

I agree that it doesn't look like it is running on all cylinders. Instead of doing a compression check just make sure the exhaust is getting hot where it comes out of each cylinder.

Does it by chance have a pertronics or a magnetic breaker setup?

re-check valve lash

As far as I know, the compression is everywhere around 6 kg, we will once again arrange everything from inflammation to valve control. But is there anyone who know how long it should take to the choke valve is fully open? because this can also be set.

pull each wire while running, check for spark
take new carb apart, check orifices, clean
Then check all that other shit

Is it possible that the piston segments are worn out?

tripicana Wed Jan 08, 2014 12:27 pm

Piston rings?
Ya they could be worn out. That's why I suggested compression test, or do a leak down check.

yes, piston rings is what I mean.
I have the compression test performed, and on every cylinder is a pressure of 6 kg. Is that enough?

ORANGECRUSHer Thu Jan 09, 2014 6:08 am

If 6kg is the same as 85psi I'd say it's worn out. Normally I look for a value over 100psi and equal across all cylinders.

These are all simple questions that would be best answered with a quick google search:
