just got a 71 vert.(auto stick)Today. It's my 1st. . Anyone know the shift pattern? It's not on the ash tray.Please Help!! Thanks !! Manny

Well, considering you only have three forward gears, the potential combinations are limited. Not ever owing one, I'd venture a guess that the pattern is probably your standard "H" pattern. Start by looking for low in the upper left, second in the lower left, and third in the upper right. If that doesn't work, look for low in the lower left, second in the upper right, and third in the lower right. As for reverse, yer on yer own.

I picked up a 71 Super AS recently and had to ask the same question. The autostick transmission is more than just a standard with no pedal. Check out www.vwar.org for more info. It's a great site.
