With all the reproduction parts coming out and people selling vin or mcode plates, we need a place to research these #'s on future bus sales for fakes or builds to these loose plates. This should have been started years ago. The first generation camaro guys have been doing this for a while. Post the vin # so if it is searched it will come up with this "fake" bus thread.

I know vin's are not supposed to be sold on here but with the m-code plates that you can sell on here Vin plates can be copied..

While I wholeheartedly agree with you that there needs to be a place to document the potential for fake buses; this may or may not be the correct forum for it. I'll let the admins dictate that.

With that said; the one thing you forgot to mention is after you get past the "rip-off" price of the VIN you forgot to mention that depending on the year there is also the stamped VIN in the engine compartment and possibly the overhead vent area. So, on that particular bus there is three spots where a VIN is required and the seller is missing two....

Plus....the seller makes notice of the fact that it's a 21 window three times in this ad. or "add" for those people that don't know the difference..... :D

Yes the seller is missing two vin #'s to the bus but both can be replicated to build a bus to this vin plate or mcode plates being sold. M-code reproduction and # stamps. Makes all this too easy to build fake authentics..

You can do that anyway as people sell the blank tags seen above.

The reproduction M-code plates look wrong, although only to the trained eye.

All that said, I don't have a problem with having a thread where the VIN #s of "fake" 21s and 23s are listed.

Isn't there a thread somewhere about reuniting m-code/vin plates with the correct bus?

I've got a handful of them and would be happy to give away ones that are missing from the associated bus.
