View original topic: Oil pressure warning buzzer part source

A company called vwhelp.com in Missouri used to sell a warning buzzer that would alert the driver of low oil pressure or generator / alternator failure. The company is no longer in business since the owner, Vic, died almost three years ago.

Here is the link to that part which sold for $8.95.

My question is: does someone sell a similar warning buzzer?

The business still has a page with approximately 140 links to general VW information and "how to" pages (scroll down past the alphabetical parts listings).

Thanks! I will try the answer provided by the following post at the thread link you provided. It shows a wiring diagram from Speedy Jim's site.

The cost is under $6 for a diode and a 76dB Piezo Buzzer. The recommended Radio Shack parts are http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062397&clickid=prod_cs
and http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2036268

I'm no electrical wiz and I've got a question. To have the buzzer work correctly in conjunction with the oil warning light only, do I have to install two diodes -- one between the oil warning light and the buzzer, and one between the Ignition and the buzzer? What is the purpose of the diodes?

I don't know when they started but my 70 bug had a buzzer for when you left your keys in the ignition and opened the door. It was obnoxiously loud a pretty small unit. You can easily wire one of those into your oil pressure or generator light.

Funny thing about that buzzer, I had never had a car with buzzers before I bought that car. My 60 and 63 never had them. I found that buzzer extremely annoying so after a few weeks of driving the car I finally took the time to disconnect the buzzer.

That very night I locked the keys in the car....

I would think any small 6-12 volt buzzer would work. These look good:
