vwuguy Thu Feb 20, 2014 9:50 am

i purchased these manifolds a while ago for the 1600 sp I run normally. They are supposed to fit a set of kadrons there custom made i think.
Does anyone know what linkage and air cleaners i could use to complete the set.

thanks for your help erb

looks like they were made for the early 90 degree heads, not the later angled heads so before going to far, make sure they fit in the engine bay and don't point out at an angle

and they look a little small for kadrons, what is the diameter of the pipe(ID)

they could use some cleanup on the inside welds, hopefully they weren't that expensive, I could through a set together for like $5 with scrap metal

as for linkage, use the scat push/pull linkage and the regular Kadron air cleaners

Air cleaners:
CIP1.ca ACC-C10-5650 - POD STYLE AIR CLEANER - 2 5/8 INCH THROAT - FITS KADRON CARBS

Linkage:
I prefer the real Kadron. ACC-C10-5476 - EMPI LINKAGE KIT FOR 40MM SOLEX / KADRON STYLE CARBS
There are others that fit. They all require fussing to sort out.

I have several SP Kadron manifolds available.

You have got to be kidding. Sorry, I can't help it.

You may have been misled. Kadron manifold top flanges fit "sideways" (at right angles) to the base flange which fastens the manifold to the head. This brings the narrow carb in a front-to-rear orientation. Your carb flange would have the carb sit sideways, for which there is definitely not enough clearance to the fan shroud.

Here's a shot of a genuine Kad SP manifold; it's the one on the right-

Further details to this Kad manifold top flange:
-Carburetor stud/hole spacing, approx. center to center: 2 7/8" (73mm)
-Carb flange hole diameter: 1 9/16" (40mm)

Give the OP a break about his manifolds- has anyone else noticed the price of used original SP Kad manifolds recently (>~$150)? If the OP can get these to work with minimal effort/rework, it'd probably still be worth his purchasing price.

But sometimes you do get lucky, like here-
