my '00 GTI VR6 is out of factory warranty and now i'd like to do a couple performance upgrades to it. not much, just a chip and a short shifter. what are some good reliable sources for these items.
i'll consider any other recommendations too. nuthin crazy or expensive. i'm not interested in street racing.
my buddy did this stuff to his '99 carrera, as if it wasnt fast enough, now it's vicious. now i'm looking for a little more GO-GO.
many thanks in advance. |

all of the above do tuning chips for these cars.
www.vwvortex.com is a good resource (using the search function  ) for information of this sort.
Have fun! |

I got a chip for my 97 Jetta from Techtonics Tuning. Havn't had any problems with it and I did notice a slight increase in performance(I also installed an intake at the same time). I think that if you get a chip you should also upgrade the exhaust and intake at the same time.

| Techtonics exhausts are the best. the one for my 96 was 240 shipped, It replaced the pipes from the cat back. Add a k&n filter and chip and you should see about 20 hp tttuning.com |

Get the GIAC chip and cat-back exhaust.
Struts and tires will help the handling. |
